After graduating from The Royal Military College with an Honours Economics and Commerce degree Brian served as a combat arms officer in both Canada and abroad, (United Nations Force in Cyprus) over a 12 year period. After leaving the military he began civilian life in a series of branch management positions with the Royal Bank, including Napanee. Brian was also Bursar at Albert College in Belleville, Eastern Ontario Accountant of UCO (United Co-Operatives of Ontario), General Manager of Harrowsmith and Equinox magazines, and Vice President and General Manager of Dural / Multibond paint and adhesives of Montreal.
Being no stranger to management in a wide variety of business enterprises, it came as no surprise that after choosing to settle and raise a family in Napanee, Brian went on to found Lamplighter Pre-School, Napanee’s first licensed daycare facility, and then opened Marlin Travel in Napanee plus 4 other locations in the ensuing years – Gananoque, Picton, and two Kingston locations. Choosing to become a financial advisor to other individuals and small businesses was a natural advancement of his acquired knowledge and after a 5 year beginning with London Life, Brian became a privately licensed independent insurance broker and began Marlin Financial Services some 20 years ago.
Brian has always been an active community minded person (Rotary, BIA, Chamber of Commerce, Streetsmarts Committee, Kidssport, Sea Cadets, etc.), an outdoor sports enthusiast (snowboarding, sailing, kayaking, camping) and family man, (married 38 years to Joan, and raised his three children, Jody Heather and Jeff, in the Napanee community), Brian cares for his clients, gives them straight advice as you would to a personal friend, and wants the best for every one of them.
